There is a beautiful bookstore in SANAA's Rolex Learning Center whose architectural language elegantly complements its host site. More
The Librairie La Fontaine, designed by Kawamura-Ganjavian in collaboration with NOR architects, is sited within the Rolex Learning Center, which earned considerable notoriety when it opened the same year that its designers, Japan based firm SANAA, won the Pritzker Prize and shot to international fame. We love the way Kawamura-Ganjavian and NOR gently mimicked the form of the Rolex center with these softly curved bookcases. The shelves' serpentine forms create secluded areas within them which contain more shelving or upholstered reading areas. Bookstores and libraries can be fairly dull and straightforward, so it's always great to see architects having fun with them.
