Seeing The Building For The Trees.

The Tote, designed by British firm, Serie Architects, is a banquet hall, restaurant and bar in Mumbai, India.  More.

The building was one of many disused buildings along Mumbai’s race course that was converted into a series of restaurants and bars.  The architect’s inspiration for the design came not from the colonial architecture of the area, but from the immense shade trees that surround the site.  They sought to use their organic textures and complex patterns to inform the structure of the interior space, which resulted in a completely ethereal, elegant space.
