Should You Take Off Your Spacesuit In Space?

You may be thinking why the astronauts put on those heavy suits. Here is what will happen to you if you get out of your spacecraft in the avoid of space without a spacesuit on.

What can happen to you if you take off your spacesuit in space? No matter what you do, just don’t make the mistake of holding your breath. If you do so, the space vacuum will suck the air out of you. Even if some of the air remains stuck in your lungs, your lungs will just rupture.

Besides, oxygen in other parts of your body will start expanding. In a few seconds, you will start ballooning up; however, you won’t explode because your skin is elastic.

A liquid in your body will start to vaporize and be part of space. As a result, your tongue and eyes will start boiling. With no air in your lungs, the supply of blood to your brain will stop.

After around 15 seconds, you will lose your consciousness. After 90 seconds, asphyxiation will take your life. In space, the temperature is extremely low, which will freeze you solid.

Based on your location in space, the freezing process will take up to 26 hours. However, if you are near a start, you will be pulled and burnt up, and your body will stay that way for a long time.

The bacteria in your gut will eat you on the inside, but this process won’t last very long. Maybe you will float in space for millions of years.

So, this is what can happen to you if you don’t put on a spacesuit when in space. While space is a perfectly silent place to spend a holiday in, going up there without a spacesuit is not a good idea, especially if you don’t want to die anytime soon.
